Ghosts as resonance between life & death (using p5.js)
Difference and Repetition by Gilles Deleuze, life & death, studied with ghosts in p5.js.
So finally I've started reading Gilles Deleuze's magnum opus Difference And Repetition, fundamental book to understand practically his whole philosophy, both alone and with Guattari (said by Deleuze himself). I've already read part of A Thousand Plateaus and What is Philosophy?, so I'm not a complete foreigner to his thought.
I postponed it because got scared it was indeed "too hard" to grasp, and well, it might be! Thankfully I also got a copy of Darin McNabb's Diferencia y repetición: Una guía de lectura (Difference and Repetition: Reading Guide). Yes, of course I sometimes need guidance, tutorials to understand certain concepts, so this was the spark that finally moved me into reading it.

One of the core insight I fully understand by now is:
One usually tends to think of difference as a negation derived from a transcendent model , thus subordinating difference to the identity of a general concept.
A good example is with Art:
This is not art because it lacks the qualities that define Art.
Why do we keep difference by negation of supposed trascendental entities, like if they exist outside of us? Like if Art is something that "just is" and everything else is "not art"? That's how Western philosophy has treated existence since the greeks, particularly Plato with the Ideal and its copies, its simulacrums. Plato would say a ghost is a degraded copy of Life (not truly alive) or a failed copy of Death (not truly dead). But what if the ghost isn't a copy at all? What if it's the differential process itself between these states?

With a friend I've been discussing the concepto of Ghosts. Can't talk too much about it since it's something being cooked, but I think it kind of applies well within Deleuze philosophy.
What's the process that produces a Ghost?
I mean, is it something not-being-alive? Or is it something not-being-dead? Probably it might be the resonance in-between these 2 states: Not being AND not-being (contradiction), but the resonance produced by their interference–something genuinely liminal.
Here's a p5.js sketch to illustrate the idea: https://editor.p5js.org/animanoir/sketches/HO1I7Gf_Y
As you can see, the ghosts emerge as the continuous interference pattern between the waves of Life and Death. This is kind of a way to understand some Deleuzean concepts, but of course I'm still (eternally) learning, but hope this makes sense.
